Joan of Arc: The Warrior Saint
Tuesday, March 17, 2026
A retired soldier turned historian gives an in-person talk on the French heroine for Women’s History Month.
Author Stephen W. Richey will give a talk on his book “Joan of Arc: The Warrior Saint” at the FLCC main campus on Tuesday, March 17, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., in Room 2755 on the second floor of the Keuka wing. The event is free and open to the public.
The talk marks Women’s History Month and is part of the History, Culture and Diversity series organized by Robert Brown, professor of history.
Joan of Arc was a French peasant girl who lived from 1412 to 1431. Claiming divine guidance, she led French forces during the Hundred Years’ War and became a national heroine before being executed by the English.
A Rochester native, Richey served in the U.S. Army from 1977 until 2010. He enlisted as a tank crewman and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1984 as an officer of tank troops.
Highlights of his career include earning his parachutist wings at Fort Benning, Ga., two tours in Germany, humanitarian de-mining operations in Ethiopia, and four tours of duty in wartime Iraq. He earned a master’s degree in history from Central Washington University in 2002.
Richey’s talk will be recorded and later broadcast on Finger Lakes TV and uploaded to the FLCC YouTube channel.
